Art Galore Days!
A Labor Day Weekend Event 2025—An Artistic Delight on El Prado Patio B
We set out to create a fun and engaging way to celebrate the holiday weekend—bringing people together through art, creativity, and community. The result was a joy-filled, hands-on experience where every project sparked laughter, learning, and connection. From ages 6 to 66 and beyond, participants dove into the creative spirit. Smiles, paintbrushes, and plenty of imagination filled the courtyard as artists and families shared in making lasting memories.
Art Galore Days was more than an event—it was a celebration of creativity, community, and the joy of making art together.
One of our collaborative and creative past events: Art in Bloom
Where Flowers Met Art
A World Where Blossoms Spoke the Language of Brushstrokes
For over 70 years, Spanish Village Art Center has been a home for San Diego’s thriving arts community. Art in Bloom was one of our most vibrant celebrations—an event honoring both the region’s rich horticultural heritage and the limitless imagination of our artists.
In this unique collaboration, each floral designer reinterpreted an original work of art created by one of our artists, transforming it into a staged vignette where blossoms met brushstrokes. Using light, color, theme, and inventive structure, these living arrangements brought each artwork to life in new and unexpected ways—surprising, delighting, and inspiring everyone who experienced them.

Koi in Bloom
A vibrant arrangement of bamboo, gerbera, and golden blooms reflects the movement and color of koi swimming across the artist’s canvas—where floral artistry flows in harmony with painted strokes.

Sunset in Bloom
Inspired by the golden glow of the horizon, cascading yellow roses, orange tulips, and lavender sprigs echo the warmth and serenity of the framed artwork beside them.

Nature’s Frame
Twisting branches embrace both painting and petals, mirroring the tree’s form in the artwork. Green foliage and cascading blooms bridge the gap between canvas and the living world.
Balboa Park Centennial: We joined fellow organizations and museums in marking
Balboa Park’s 100th Anniversary
presenting monthly events on our patio and in Gallery 21. Highlights included a collaborative mural of twelve 2-by-6-foot panels depicting Balboa Park in its early days—still on display in the Senior Coffee Room—and a grand exhibit where artists explored the Four Elements through their chosen medium, from wooden spigots of flowing water to fiery sculptural works in paper and beyond.

Art…It’s Elemental
We humans strive to understand the world we live in. From the first time we floated in WATER, burned our hands in the FIRE, quarried stone from the EARTH, and dreamed of flying on the AIR, we have sought to understand the world through our EXPERIENCE. Whether it is dividing the world into water, fire, earth, and air or RNA, DNA, quarks, and electrons, we want to understand the world we live in. While science helps us recognize and measure smaller and smaller parts, art reminds us of our emotional connection to our experience with the four basic elements – Earth, Water, Fire, and Air. Visitors were invited to immerse themselves in the realm of the four elements and experience it through the eyes, hands, hearts, and words of artists from Spanish Village Art Center, Inc.
Another Centennial Event of magnitude.
