Spanish Village Art Center is a vibrant community of artists who have been creating, demonstrating, and celebrating artistic expression in Balboa Park since 1935. Originally built as a collection of colorful, temporary exhibition buildings for the 1935 California Pacific International Exposition, Spanish Village soon became a beloved gathering place for artists and visitors alike. In 1981, we formally incorporated as an independent nonprofit organization and have continued to thrive as a collaborative community dedicated to fostering creativity, supporting one another, and inspiring the joy of artmaking in all who visit.

Inspiring Creativity, Empowering Futures
Created as a sister organization to Spanish Village Art Center, Inc. The Foundation was incorporated out of a deep appreciation for the many continuous years that the artists have worked to create and inspire art for the greater community of San Diego and its visitors from all over the world. We were Incorporated on January 1, 2025, as a nonprofit public benefit corporation, and received tax exempt 501c3 status from the IRS, also effective January 1, 2025. We are both excited to be in a mutually beneficial relationship with each other. We look forward to carrying out our mission.
